No collection of creepers is complete without a few spiders! I've admired spiders ever since my first painting of one, "The Beauty
of Writing". Gourds are excellent for making the central bodies of spiders. Wire and clay fill in their spindly legs and details. Most
of the spiders I create are based off of real species - even the brightly colored ones! The sculptures pictured below are just a

 Large Gourd Spiders
Gourd Spiders are made from one or two gourds.
Most of them are a single bottle gourd, cut in half to
have a flat back. Their backs are sealed with plywood
and an eye hook lets them hang on a wall.
